KPI’s for Success

Thanks to a generous donation by Insightformation, Inc. Headquartered in Golden Valley, MN, Playing ACES CHESS is able to maintain community awareness of program success via their InsightVision (IV) community collaboration platform.   This in-kind donation allows Playing ACES CHESS to engage a strategic approach to building community support and assure operational transparency.  Playing ACES CHESS will serve as a national demonstration model in the effective use of their web-embed feature as a public facing strategy alignment tool to show collaboration (goals and their measures) in action.

Over the next 3-5 years Playing ACES CHESS will use the InsightVision platform to support for K-12 chess in this area.  This includes the ability for funders to see and support annual fundraising and the pubic to know how Playing ACES CHESS will transparently manage major funding to support program elements!  Below is a starting example of the power and flexibility of this systems-based community collaboration tool.  To see another example of its use click on the City of Bellingham, Washington to see how they are using the tool.

Mentor Development GoalsMentors Development Goals Status
In order to have broad program reach Playing ACES CHESS must develop a sustainable cadre of chess program mentors (aka basic coaches).  We do this via collaboration with valued resources like Madison House Student Volunteers and the UVA Curry School’s Day in the Life Service Learning Volunteers to list a couple.

Unrated Event GoalsUnrated Event Goals Status
Playing ACES CHESS would like to use a series of regular (at least ever other week – see attached possible school year and summer competitive plan) unrated chess events as part of skills development for K-12 players not yet fully committed to earning and maintaining a USCF Chess Rating.   The goal would be to have at least 48 players per event participate.  This means an annual goal of > 1200 unrated players engaging in these events annually. The importance of using unrated tournament and match events cannot be overstated.  Just have chess classes without competition is like have a school or community soccer program and then not having games to help develop skills and introduce kids to a friendly and safe competitive environment.  Parents should understand how chess tournaments are different than other events like a football or soccer game.

Rated Event GoalsRated Event Goals Status# K-12 Rated Players Status
Playing ACES CHESS would like to host a minimum of 12 rated events a year (estimated 60 rated rounds per student annually) with a minimum of 120 rated players per monthly rated event.  That would mean and annual participation of > 1400 K-12 rated players.   This is in addition to the other events VSCA available to K-12 rated players via other locations are Virginia.
